About HoneyBee & Co.
Our approved standard description. Copy it straight into your piece.
HoneyBee & Co. is a British artisan honey company founded in 2020 by Dragos Nistor, built on six generations of family beekeeping in Transylvania. The company sells raw, unpasteurised, single-origin honey, with every jar traceable to a named region and harvest. Acacia, Sunflower, and Linden come from the Nistor family's apiaries in the Carpathian foothills; Heather, Wildflower, and Soft Set are hand-harvested in small batches from the Yorkshire Moorlands and the English Midlands, supplied through a SALSA-certified British partner. HoneyBee & Co. was featured in Vogue's Summer Hot List across three consecutive editions in summer 2024. The company operates from Buckinghamshire and the Midlands and ships across the United Kingdom.

Short bio, 50 words
Dragos Nistor is the founder of HoneyBee & Co. He learned beekeeping as a child in a Transylvanian acacia forest, the sixth generation of his family to do so. He moved to London at 27, took a business degree at the University of Greenwich, and founded HoneyBee & Co. in 2020.
Long bio, 100 words
Dragos Nistor is the founder of HoneyBee & Co. He was raised in the Transylvanian countryside, where his father Nistor Fanel and grandfather Nistor Grigore worked the family hives. He was handed a smoker at five years old and became the sixth generation of his family to keep bees. At 27 he relocated to London and took a business degree at the University of Greenwich, founding HoneyBee & Co. in 2020 on a principle borrowed from his grandfather: sell only what you would be proud to put on your own table. His father remains the family's main beekeeper in Romania today.
I learned beekeeping from five in a Transylvanian acacia forest. My grandfather placed a smoker in my hand and a dripping frame in the other. Six generations of my family have harvested honey the same way: raw, unfiltered, and cold-extracted.Dragos Nistor, Founder

What we can talk about
Dragos is available for interview, expert comment, and contributed writing. These are the subjects we know well and can speak to with evidence.
Honey adulteration and traceability
The European Commission's 2023 Joint Research Centre report found a large share of honey imports tested at EU borders were suspected of adulteration. We can talk about what that means for shoppers and how traceability actually works.
What "raw" really means
Pasteurisation, ultra-filtration, and what they remove. Why crystallisation is a sign of authenticity rather than a fault.
Pollinators and British bees
We publish an extensive library on British bee species and pollinator decline, and can comment on habitat, forage, and what actually helps.
A family trade turned brand
Six generations of Transylvanian beekeeping, a business degree in London, and what it takes for a micro-producer to reach Vogue.
