How to enjoy

Six Ways to Use Your Heritage Bundle

Three Romanian honeys, each with its own character and best uses.

Acacia in tea and coffee

The mildest, most versatile sweetener. Dissolves cleanly into hot drinks without changing the flavour. Add after brewing cools below boiling to preserve the raw enzymes. Works with any tea from green to black.

🍂

Linden with herbal tea

Linden honey's woody, minty notes complement chamomile, peppermint, and other herbal blends perfectly. A spoonful before bed with a calming herbal tea is a Transylvanian tradition passed down through generations.

🍞

Sunflower for baking

Sunflower honey's warm, buttery character and firm-setting texture make it ideal for cakes, flapjacks, and honey bread. Substitute for sugar at roughly half the quantity and reduce oven temperature by 15 degrees.

🧀

Acacia with cheese

Drizzle Acacia over brie, goat cheese, or fresh ricotta. Its delicate sweetness lets the cheese flavour lead while adding a clean, golden finish. The classic European pairing.

🍴

Sunflower in marinades and glazes

Sunflower honey caramelises beautifully. Brush it on roasting vegetables, use it in a chicken or pork glaze, or whisk into salad dressings with mustard and vinegar for a Romanian-inspired touch.

🍸

Linden in cocktails

Linden's herbal complexity adds unexpected depth to gin cocktails and spritzes. Mix equal parts honey and warm water for a syrup, then add to a Bee's Knees or a simple gin and tonic upgrade.

The heritage story

Why These Three?

This bundle tells our family's story. Three honeys from the same Transylvanian landscape, each from a different bloom.

1

Six Generations of Craft

Dragos Nistor's great-great-great-grandfather first kept bees in these same Acacia forests over 150 years ago. The methods have barely changed. No shortcuts, no industrial techniques. Just patience, knowledge, and deep respect for the bees.

2

Three Seasons, One Landscape

Acacia blooms in spring, Linden in early summer, and Sunflower in high summer. These three honeys map the Transylvanian growing season from start to finish. Three distinct flavours from the same family hives.

3

European Provenance You Can Trust

Unlike cheap imported honey labelled "blend of EU and non-EU honeys," every jar in this set is traceable to one family, one region, and one harvest. This is what genuine European honey tastes like.

What Sets It Apart

Raw Honey vs Supermarket Honey

Not all honey is the same. Here is what sets ours apart.

HoneyBee & Co. Raw Honey

  • Never heated. Cold-extracted to preserve natural enzymes, pollen, and antioxidants.
  • Never blended. Single-origin from one geographical location with full traceability.
  • Minimal filtering. Natural pollen and beneficial compounds stay in the jar.
  • Fully traceable. Every batch tracked from hive to jar. Our British honey supplier holds SALSA Certification.

Typical supermarket honey

  • Pasteurised. Heated to 70 degrees or more, destroying natural enzymes.
  • Blended. "Blend of EU and non-EU honeys" with zero traceability.
  • Ultra-filtered. Pollen removed entirely, making origin impossible to verify.
  • Often adulterated. Some imported honeys contain added sugar syrups.
Three generations of the Nistor family of beekeepers - Fanel, Grigore, and Dragos Nistor - founders of HoneyBee & Co.

Six Generations. Two Countries.

From our family to yours.

Our story begins in the forests and meadows of Transylvania, where the Nistor family has tended bees for six generations. Same hives, same flora, same craft - passed from grandfather to grandson, mother to daughter.

Founder Dragos Nistor brought that tradition to Britain and built it out from there - partnering with British beekeepers in Yorkshire and the English Midlands whose work meets the same exacting standards: raw, unblended, traceable, and ethical.

These three jars are from our own apiaries - the same forests, the same family, six generations later. This is the honey we grew up on.

“Having sampled just one so far it truly is as if straight from the hive and its subtle acacia aroma is perfection itself.”

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Where exactly does this honey come from?
All three honeys come from our family apiary in Transylvania, Romania - tended by six generations of the Nistor family. Acacia from the Acacia forests, Linden from the ancient Linden groves, Sunflower from the lowland fields. Every jar is single-origin and traceable.
What is the connection to the Nistor family?
Founder Dragos Nistor's father Nistor Fanel, grandfather Nistor Grigore, and four prior generations all tended these same hives. Six generations, over 150 years of beekeeping in one place. The methods have barely changed - just patience, knowledge, and respect for the bees.
Is this set genuinely Romanian honey?
Yes. All three jars are 100% Transylvanian, harvested at our own family apiaries. No blending with imported honey, no pasteurisation, no industrial filtering. Each jar carries the same craft we have used for six generations.
How does the saving compare to buying jars individually?
Buying the three jars individually would cost £32.97 at £10.99 each. The Romanian Heritage Bundle is £31.32, a 5% saving plus free UK delivery.
How should I store the honeys?
Store at room temperature in a cool, dry place. Do not refrigerate. Acacia stays liquid for ages. Linden may set softly. Sunflower will firm up naturally - that crystallised state is exactly what makes it ideal for baking.
Is this a good gift?
Yes - especially for anyone with Romanian, Eastern European, or simply European heritage. Three full-size 280g jars in distinct flavours, each from one family's craft. Add a personalised message at checkout.
What is the delivery time?
Free UK delivery on every Romanian Heritage Bundle order. Standard delivery is 2 to 5 working days, dispatched Monday to Friday via Royal Mail tracked.
Can I subscribe?
Yes. Subscribe and save 20% on individual jars - monthly or every three months. Cancel or pause any time.
