About this honey

What Makes Our Heather Special

Single-origin, single-harvest, hand-pressed from the Yorkshire Moors.

Product images are indicative. Natural raw honey varies in colour and texture by batch and season - that variation is the signature of authentic single-origin honey.

How to enjoy

Six Ways to Use British Heather Honey

Bold and rare. Use generously where you want honey to make a statement.

🍋

In hot honey and lemon

The classic British remedy for sore throats. Hot water (not boiling), fresh lemon juice, a generous spoonful. The NHS suggests hot honey and lemon as a home remedy for coughs in adults and children over one year old.

🧀

With blue and aged cheese

Heather and Stilton is one of the great cheese pairings. Also exceptional with Roquefort, gorgonzola, aged cheddar, manchego, and pecorino.

🥃

In a hot toddy

Whisky, hot water, lemon, cloves, and a generous spoonful of Heather. The traditional Scottish remedy and winter nightcap. Adults only.

🍖

Heather glaze on roast lamb

Brush onto roast lamb in the last 10 minutes of cooking. The bold floral character cuts through rich meat and creates a glossy caramelised crust.

In strong black tea

Better than sugar in English Breakfast, Earl Grey, or Yorkshire tea. Heather can stand up to bold black tea where mild honeys disappear entirely.

🍰

Drizzled over panna cotta or yoghurt

Heather adds floral depth and visual drama to white desserts. A small spoonful elevates panna cotta, vanilla ice cream, or thick Greek yoghurt.

Why stock up

Why Three Jars of Heather?

Single-harvest rarity. When this year's runs out, there is no more until next August.

1

Single Annual Harvest

Heather only blooms in August on the Yorkshire Moors. The harvest window is short. Once stock from one season ends, there is no more until the following year.

2

Highest in Antioxidants

Heather is one of the highest-antioxidant honeys in the world, comparable to manuka. Dark, complex, and rich in phenolic compounds from the heather flowers.

3

Hand-Pressed by Beekeepers

Heather honey's jelly-like (thixotropic) texture means it cannot be spun out of the comb like other honeys. It must be pressed or agitated by hand. Genuinely artisan.

Free Delivery, 5% Off

Three jars qualifies for free UK delivery, and you save 5% on the trio. Stock up while the season's harvest lasts.

What Sets It Apart

Raw Honey vs Supermarket Honey

Not all honey is the same. Here is what sets ours apart.

HoneyBee & Co. Raw Honey

  • Never heated. Cold-extracted to preserve natural enzymes, pollen, and antioxidants.
  • Never blended. Single-origin from one geographical location with full traceability.
  • Minimal filtering. Natural pollen and beneficial compounds stay in the jar.
  • Fully traceable. Every batch tracked from hive to jar. Our British honey supplier holds SALSA Certification.

Typical supermarket honey

  • Pasteurised. Heated to 70 degrees or more, destroying natural enzymes.
  • Blended. "Blend of EU and non-EU honeys" with zero traceability.
  • Ultra-filtered. Pollen removed entirely, making origin impossible to verify.
  • Often adulterated. Some imported honeys contain added sugar syrups.
Three generations of the Nistor family of beekeepers - Fanel, Grigore, and Dragos Nistor - founders of HoneyBee & Co.

Six Generations. Two Countries.

From our family to yours.

Our story begins in the forests and meadows of Transylvania, where the Nistor family has tended bees for six generations. Same hives, same flora, same craft - passed from grandfather to grandson, mother to daughter.

Founder Dragos Nistor brought that tradition to Britain and built it out from there - partnering with British beekeepers in Yorkshire and the English Midlands whose work meets the same exacting standards: raw, unblended, traceable, and ethical.

Whether the jar in your hand came from our family hives or from one of our British partners, the standard is the same: raw, unblended, traceable, and ethical.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Why is Heather honey more expensive than other varieties?
Heather has a single short harvest window each August, is harder to extract due to its jelly-like texture (must be pressed or agitated rather than spun), and yields per hive are far smaller than other honeys. Genuine British heather honey is one of the most prized in the world.
How long will three jars of Heather last?
Heather is intense and people use it generously. For a household using it in hot drinks, on cheese, and in remedies, three 280g jars typically last around two to three months.
Will the honey crystallise?
Heather honey has a thixotropic, jelly-like texture - it remains thick and sets only loosely. It does not crystallise into hard granules like firm-set honeys. The texture is part of what makes it special.
How does the saving compare to buying jars individually?
Buying three jars individually would cost £38.97 at £12.99 each. The stock-up pack is £37.02, a 5% saving plus free UK delivery.
Where exactly does this honey come from?
All three jars come from a single SALSA-certified British beekeeper working the Yorkshire Moors in late summer. Hand-pressed from the comb. Single-origin, single-harvest.
Is Heather honey really high in antioxidants?
Yes. Studies have found heather honey to be among the highest-antioxidant honeys in the world, with phenolic compound levels comparable to manuka honey. The dark colour is a visible sign of its rich phenolic content.
What is the delivery time?
Free UK delivery on every stock-up pack. Standard delivery is 2 to 5 working days via Royal Mail tracked.
Can I subscribe?
Yes. Subscribe and save 20% on Heather honey - monthly or every three months.
